Ashraf al-Mansi, known as Abu al-Kasir, a Gaza resident and leader of an armed group," the Popular Forces militia, " fighting against Hamas in the northern part of the Strip in recent weeks, denied reports claiming that Hamas had killed or detained members of his faction.
In a video posted on his Facebook page in recent hours, al-Mansi said that reports about Hamas targeting the group’s fighters were “baseless.”
He stressed that his men had taken control of several areas in northern Gaza and were expanding their presence to ensure the safe return of residents to their homes.
Al-Mansi issued a direct warning to Hamas, saying that any approach toward areas under his group’s control “will be met in the same way Hamas treats the militia’s fighters.”
His remarks came after videos circulated in recent hours that appeared to show executions carried out by Hamas in Gaza City.
Palestinian media reported that the newly revealed militia operating in the northern Gaza Strip is functioning under Israeli sponsorship, following a model similar to that of Yasser Abu Shabab’s militia in Rafah.
The group maintains its headquarters inside a school building in the Beit Hanoun neighborhood of northern Gaza.
Its flag, bearing the logo of the “Popular Forces – Northern Forces” militia, is prominently displayed on its vehicles and facilities.
Security bodies affiliated with the resistance in the Gaza Strip have confirmed the involvement of al-Mansi in forming a criminal network, amid the ongoing two-year campaign of mass extermination against the Gaza Strip.
Security sources affiliated with the resistance in the Gaza Strip confirmed to Palestinian media that al-Mansi formed a gang of roughly twenty members, many of whom have prior records for drug offenses, theft, and corruption.
Resistance security officials have previously held al-Mansi and his associates responsible for acts of treason and have warned that strict revolutionary measures will be taken against anyone proven to be involved with them.
