Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said his party plans to establish a government “migration office” after the Oct. 27 election to promote what he calls the “voluntary migration” of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
In a post on X, Ben-Gvir argued that encouraging Palestinians to leave Gaza was the “real and only solution” and claimed it would offer them the possibility of a better life.
He said the planned government office would be established in the next period after the election and claimed his Jewish Power party would lead it.
Israeli media previously reported that Ben-Gvir was preparing to present a plan called “Disengagement 710” concerning what he describes as “voluntary migration” from Gaza.
Under the reported plan, 250,000 Palestinians would leave Gaza in the first year, 1.11 million within three years and about 1.86 million by the end of seven years.
Around 2.2 million Palestinians live in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz has also said a plan to remove Palestinians from Gaza has not been canceled and remains under discussion, although it is currently frozen.
The foreign ministers of Türkiye, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have strongly condemned statements by Ben-Gvir and Katz concerning the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
