Bulgaria's Naval Forces have located an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and several pieces of drone debris at multiple points along the country's Black Sea coastline, the Defense Ministry said.
According to a ministry statement, the drone was discovered off Galata Cape near the city of Varna. An inspection found no explosives on board. The device was transported to a naval base for further examination, along with debris recovered from other locations.
The ministry said additional drone fragments were found off Kabakum Beach, also near Varna, and off the resort area of Zlatni Pyasatsi (Golden Sands). A separate piece, identified as a drone wing, was located off the northern coast of the city of Burgas.
"The Naval Forces responded to the UAV and to all three fragments," the ministry said, confirming that all four items had been retrieved and taken in for inspection.
The discovery comes a day after Bulgaria's Naval Forces recovered four other drone fragments along the Black Sea coast, according to the ministry, marking the second such incident in consecutive days.
Bulgaria, a NATO and European Union member, has one of the longer Black Sea coastlines among regional states. The Black Sea has seen repeated instances of drone wreckage washing ashore or being detected offshore among littoral nations in recent years, prompting periodic inspections by regional naval forces.
