Since late February 2026, Iran has launched hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones toward the United Arab Emirates, including areas around Dubai.
Most have been intercepted by UAE air defenses, but debris and explosions have been reported in populated areas, unsettling residents and visitors alike.
The ongoing conflict has had a clear effect on Dubai’s not just economy but daily life as well. Hotels are seeing fewer guests and shops and restaurants have fewer customers than usual. Many international flights have been canceled or delayed, and planned conferences and events have been postponed.
All of these changes have made busy areas, such as Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates, much quieter than usual.
Heightened security measures have been implemented across the city in response to the regional situation. Air-defense alerts, security patrols, and emergency communications have become routine.
Roads surrounding strategic installations, airports, and industrial zones display reduced traffic, reflecting both precautionary measures and the temporary relocation of certain residents.
The conflict has caused broader economic ripples across Dubai. Businesses, particularly in hospitality, retail, and tourism, face significant slowdowns.
Reports also show that some people are choosing to leave Dubai temporarily, in part due to safety concerns with even pets being left behind.
At the same time, others argue that daily life continues in many parts of the city, with workplaces and shops still operating.
