The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities issued a statement on Tuesday addressing circulating rumors claiming that the country had raised entry visa fees from $25 to $45.
The ministry said the reports were “completely unfounded,” confirming that no executive decisions had been issued to increase the cost of obtaining a visa to enter Egypt.
It added that the only measure taken at this stage was setting a maximum ceiling for visa fees, not implementing any increase.
The ministry stressed that the circulating claims are nothing more than rumors, reaffirming that any information related to entry visas or other procedures is announced, as usual, through official statements issued by the relevant state authorities.
“The ministry urges all media outlets and social media users to verify information and consult official sources before publishing any details on this matter,” it added.
Reports from travelers who recently arrived in Egypt indicated that the fees remain unchanged, whether upon arrival in the country, at Egyptian diplomatic missions, or on the official electronic visa portal (e-Visa). The fees are $25 for a single-entry visa and $60 for a multiple-entry visa.
