As part of ongoing diplomatic coordination, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held phone calls on Tuesday with his counterparts in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Türkiye to discuss developments in Gaza and Sudan.
The phone calls brought together Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
During the calls, Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s ongoing efforts to uphold the Sharm el-Sheikh peace agreement, stressing the importance of fully implementing its provisions to end the war and alleviate humanitarian suffering in the Gaza Strip.
He also underscored the need to move to the second phase of the U.S. president’s plan, which includes political, developmental, and humanitarian components.
The minister also addressed ongoing preparations for the International Conference on Reconstruction, Early Recovery, and Development in the Gaza Strip, set to be held in Cairo later this November.
He noted that the conference is expected to serve as a key step in mobilizing international support for Gaza’s reconstruction efforts and advancing stability in the region.
Regarding the crisis in Sudan, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast position in support of Sudan’s unity, stability, and national institutions.
He pointed to Egypt’s efforts within the framework of the Quartet Mechanism to support de-escalation and reach a comprehensive nationwide cease-fire.
He stressed the importance of unified regional and international efforts to reach a comprehensive humanitarian truce that would pave the way for an inclusive political process, while ensuring the continued flow of humanitarian and relief aid across Sudan.
He also condemned the recent violations in el-Fasher, calling for their immediate cessation and affirming Egypt’s continued commitment to providing humanitarian and relief support to the Sudanese people to alleviate their suffering.
