Under the banner of “Our ships have set sail toward Gaza, our goal is to break the siege,” the Maghreb steadfastness convoy announced Wednesday the start of preparations for its second joint mission.
The upcoming operation, "The Maghreb Al Soumoud Flotilla to Break the Siege on Gaza," will be launched as part of the broader Global Steadfastness Flotilla initiative.
This new campaign will be fully maritime, with broad international participation, and will sail toward Gaza.
In their announcement, the convoy emphasized: “We call on all free people around the world, especially active and committed groups that support Palestinian rights, to declare a global state of emergency and to fully engage in the upcoming efforts to break the siege and stop the genocide.“
The initiative called on the free people of the world—especially active groups and advocates for Palestinian rights—to declare a state of emergency and to fully participate and engage in the upcoming operations to break the siege on Gaza.
It emphasized the urgent need to exert every effort to break the siege and to stop the ongoing war of extermination.
Specifically, it called on the Maghreb peoples in Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, and Mauritania to actively join and support the flotilla’s efforts—just as they stood firmly behind the previous land convoy.
The convoy noted that "details of the joint flotilla operation will be announced at a press conference to be held within the coming days."
Amid ongoing efforts to break the siege on Gaza, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition has also announced it is launching a new mission to Gaza on July 13 under the name of Handala.
Following the interception of the Madleen Flotilla on June 9, the Handala Flotilla—another civilian humanitarian vessel—is set to sail for Gaza. It carries emergency supplies and the steadfast solidarity of people around the world.
“The vessel will carry life-saving humanitarian aid and a message of solidarity from people around the world refusing to stay silent as Gaza is starved, bombed, and buried under rubble,” the Freedom Flotilla coalition said in a statement.
