Scheduled domestic flights resumed Saturday at Bandar Abbas International Airport in southern Iran, state media reported, as the strategic Persian Gulf port city recovers from repeated closures tied to hostilities with the United States.
Kazem Tavassoli, director general of airports in Hormozgan province, said scheduled flights on high-traffic domestic routes resumed at the airport Saturday, according to the state-run IRNA news agency. The announcement marks the latest step in a gradual reopening process that has unfolded in stages since the airport first resumed limited operations in early July.
Tavassoli said the resumption follows a period of limited flights in recent days. Passengers can now purchase tickets for round-trip service on three routes: Tehran–Bandar Abbas, Mashhad–Bandar Abbas and Bandar Abbas–Isfahan.
Before the war, the airport handled 35 to 40 domestic and international flights per day, Tavassoli said. It has been closed repeatedly since the conflict with the United States began in February.

As one of Iran's principal aviation hubs, the airport connects the port city to major domestic destinations across the country. Air travel across Iran has been sharply curtailed at times during the conflict with the United States, with airports in affected regions closing intermittently amid military activity.
Tavassoli's comments suggest airport authorities are moving cautiously, restoring service route by route rather than resuming full pre-war capacity at once. Officials have not indicated when, or whether, the airport's international flights or its previous daily volume of 35 to 40 flights will be restored.
