Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is alive and unharmed, a close aide said Sunday, as joint U.S.-Israeli attacks target Iran’s senior leadership and military infrastructure.
“I am in touch with him. All is good,” the adviser told Anadolu Agency, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Earlier, Ahmadinejad was reported killed in an Israeli-U.S. airstrike.
The adviser said a building related to Ahmadinejad’s security detail was struck a day earlier.
Three of his bodyguards, members of the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps), were killed in the strike, the source said.
Ahmadinejad’s residence, located about 100 meters from the targeted building, was not affected and was not struck, the adviser added.
Ahmadinejad served as Iran’s president from 2005 to 2013.
