Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was killed in Israeli and U.S. strikes on Iran, according to Israeli media reports on Sunday.

Ahmadinejad was reportedly struck at his home. Israeli media reported the killing, describing it as part of an ongoing campaign targeting senior Iranian figures.

Ahmadinejad served as president of Iran from 2005 to 2013.

Known for his hardline rhetoric, he took a confrontational stance toward the West and drew international scrutiny over Iran’s nuclear program.

His presidency was also marked by the disputed 2009 election results and the mass protests that followed across Iran.
