The Palestinian Health Ministry said the death toll in Gaza has reached 72,549, with 172,274 people wounded, as Israeli attacks continue and additional bodies are recovered from beneath the rubble.

According to the ministry, the figures reflect casualties recorded since Oct. 7, 2023.

Health authorities said they received eight bodies in the past 24 hours, including seven people newly killed and one recovered from rubble, along with 24 wounded.

Casualties continue despite ceasefire

Since a ceasefire was announced on Oct. 11, at least 773 Palestinians have been killed and 2,171 wounded, according to the ministry.

Rescue teams have also recovered 761 bodies from beneath destroyed buildings during the same period.

The ministry said many victims remain trapped under debris or lie in areas that emergency crews cannot reach, as ongoing attacks and destruction continue to hamper rescue efforts.

Verification process adds to total

Authorities said 196 additional victims were recently added to the overall toll after verification by the Martyrs Approval Committee.

The update reflects ongoing challenges in documenting the full scale of casualties as conditions on the ground remain difficult.
