Abu Obaida, the spokesperson for Hamas' military wing, known as the Qassam Brigades, issued a formal statement following Iran's recent missile attacks on Israel, describing the day as "exceptional."

In his message on Telegram, Abu Obaida commended Iran for its military response against Israel, stating, “We congratulate Iran for its decisive actions, which have dealt a significant blow to the criminal organization of occupiers that operates under the assumption it can act with impunity against the entire occupied Palestinian territory and the people of the region.”

Overview of Iran's attacks on Israel

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps conducted ballistic and cruise missile strikes against Israel. Just six months following the previous attack on April 13, sirens were activated in both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, prompting the deployment of the Iron Dome defense system.

Initially, Iran claimed to have launched 500 missiles, including hypersonic missiles designated as Fettah; however, this number was later adjusted to 200. The Israeli military reported that 180 missiles were fired, with some impacting Tel Aviv and other cities in Israel.

Israel's official response

The Israeli military stated that no damage had been recorded at its military installations and that there were no reported casualties. The United States characterized the Iranian missile strikes as "ineffective."

Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari affirmed that the Israeli Defense Forces are "fully prepared to defend and retaliate" against Iranian attacks, assuring that a response would be executed "in due course."
