Hamas has dismissed reports suggesting that Khalil al-Haya, a member of the movement’s political bureau, was targeted in an assassination attempt in Türkiye.

Palestinian media outlets cited Hamas sources describing the circulating claims as “false rumors,” part of what the movement called a broader psychological and media campaign by the occupation against Palestinian leaders.

The sources emphasized that such claims would neither shake public confidence in the leadership nor alter the steadfast positions that Haya and his colleagues have maintained over years of resilience and defiance.

“Rumors are the weapon of the weak,” they said, noting that Palestinians have long emerged from such campaigns more determined and committed to their national choices.

The reports followed earlier allegations on Hebrew-language platforms claiming that Haya had been assassinated in Türkiye.

Hamas had similarly denied a comparable claim in mid-June regarding an alleged assassination attempt on Haya, who heads the movement’s negotiating delegation.
