Khalil al-Hayya, head of Hamas’ negotiating delegation, affirmed that the movement is fully prepared, with a sense of responsibility and positivity, to reach an end to the war.

This will take place under the oversight and guarantees of the sponsoring countries and U.S. President Donald Trump, ensuring that the conflict does not reignite.

In an interview with journalist and broadcaster Samir Omar on Egypt’s Al-Qahera News channel, Hayya said that the Hamas delegation carries the aspirations of its people for stability, freedom, statehood, and self-determination.

Hayya stated that the delegation’s visit to Sharm el-Sheikh is intended to conduct serious and responsible consultations, reflecting the suffering and sacrifices of the Palestinian people.

He described the conflict as a “senseless war” waged by Israel against the Palestinian people over the past two years.

Hayya expressed appreciation for the “significant efforts” made by Arab and Islamic nations, the international community, and President Donald Trump in seeking to stop the war and bring it to a definitive end.

He stressed that Hamas’ delegation came with a clear and direct goal: to end the war and secure the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.

The delegation also aims to achieve a full prisoner exchange, including the release of all Israeli detainees, both living and deceased, in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, in accordance with Trump’s plan.

Hayya expressed his regret over the continued killing, bombing, destruction, and suspension of aid, particularly in the northern Gaza Strip.

He noted that this persists despite Hamas’s declared readiness to accept Trump’s plan to end the war, ensure Israel’s withdrawal, and complete the prisoner exchange.

Hamas says it tested Israel twice, demands genuine guarantees

Hayya stressed that Israel “cannot be trusted.”

He pointed out that it breached the initial agreement concluded in November–December 2023, as well as the subsequent understandings of January 2025, before resuming hostilities.

He added that “Israel has a long history of breaking its promises” and that Hamas experienced this twice during the current conflict.

He emphasized that this makes it essential to obtain firm guarantees from the international community, the U.S. administration under President Trump, and the nations sponsoring the negotiations.

Hayya reiterated that Hamas is fully ready, with a positive and responsible attitude, to end the war, ensure Israel’s withdrawal, and implement a complete prisoner exchange that guarantees lasting peace, stability, and security for the Palestinian people

He emphasized that these efforts are aimed at achieving their legitimate rights, as with all other people in the region.
