Israeli warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes in southern Lebanon, according to statements released by the Israeli army and reports from Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA). The military said the operation was aimed at what it described as Hezbollah infrastructure, referring to facilities allegedly linked to the Iran-backed armed group that operates both as a political movement and a militia in Lebanon. No immediate response was issued by Hezbollah following the attacks.

Reports from NNA indicated that Israeli fighter jets flew at low altitude over southern Lebanon before carrying out multiple strikes. The flights and subsequent bombardments added to ongoing tensions along the Israel–Lebanon border, where military activity has continued to flare up despite diplomatic efforts to reduce hostilities. Israeli military officials maintained that the strikes focused on locations they claimed were tied to Hezbollah’s military capabilities.

In its official communication, the Israeli army spokesperson argued that the air raids targeted military infrastructure allegedly operated by Hezbollah in the affected regions. The statement framed the attacks as part of ongoing security operations, though independent confirmation regarding the nature of the targeted sites was not immediately available.

The latest strikes unfold against the backdrop of a conflict that began in October 2023, when Israel launched attacks into Lebanon that later escalated into a broader war by September 2024. The fighting led to significant casualties and widespread destruction, shaping one of the most serious cross-border confrontations in recent years. More than 4,000 people were reported killed and around 17,000 injured during the clashes.

Although a ceasefire agreement was reached between Israel and Lebanon on Nov. 27, 2024, reports indicate that violations have continued since then.

According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, Israeli attacks carried out between late November 2024 and Nov. 20, 2025 resulted in 331 deaths and 945 injuries.
