Iran’s army said the war would continue until its enemies reach a point where they regret attacking Iran, according to statements carried by the semi-official Fars News Agency on Monday.

Army spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Ekreminiya said the United States and Israel had failed to achieve their objectives in the war against Iran.

“We can say with certainty that the other side has not achieved its objectives in the war and has, in fact, been defeated. The purpose of continuing the war is to bring the enemy to a point where it will feel real regret. This may be perceived by some as an emotional approach, but it is actually entirely based on strategic rationality,” Ekreminiya said.

He added that forcing the enemy to reach such a point was necessary to prevent future wars.

“Bringing the enemy to this point is a necessity to prevent the recurrence of war in the future because if this objective is achieved, the level of deterrence will increase in such a way that the enemy will not dare to take action against the country again,” he said.

Iran rejects ceasefire without guarantees

Meanwhile, Iran on Monday rejected the idea of a ceasefire with the United States, saying any pause in fighting could allow its adversaries to regroup and resume attacks.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said during a press briefing that Tehran would only consider arrangements that include guarantees preventing a return to hostilities.

“A ceasefire means a pause to rebuild forces for renewed attacks. No rational actor would accept that,” he said.

Iran’s demands must include “guarantees” to prevent a cycle of ceasefire and renewed conflict, he added, stressing that decisions related to national security “must ensure no further acts of aggression.”

Regional tensions have escalated since the United States and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on Feb. 28, killing so far over 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, along with Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting U.S. military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
