U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that he was "100%" confident Iran would stop enriching uranium and abandon any effort to build a nuclear weapon.
He claimed Iranian officials had privately told him they would hand over the enriched material, remarks that came one day after he called the ceasefire with Iran "on massive life support" and dismissed Tehran's latest counterproposal as "simply unacceptable."
"100% they're going to stop," Trump told WABC's "Sid and Friends in the Morning" when asked whether he believed Iran could be prevented from enriching uranium and developing a bomb.
"I deal with them. And they said that we're going to get the dust. I call it the nuclear dust because it's appropriate. And we're going to get it," he added.
Trump also said Washington was under no pressure to accelerate the diplomatic timeline. "We're not going to rush anything, we have a blockade," he said.
"We have a blockade which allows them no money. It's a very simple thing: we cannot let them have a nuclear weapon, because they'd use it," Trump said.
