Iran launched a retaliatory missile attack on Israel Friday night, with Iranian ballistic missiles and projectiles striking at least seven locations across the country, including Tel Aviv, according to Israeli military sources.

Tehran confirmed the offensive—dubbed “Operation True Promise III”—via state-run Press TV, saying the strikes were a direct response to Israel’s earlier air raids that killed over 100 people and targeted key nuclear and military sites..

Emergency sirens blared throughout Israel as the military confirmed dozens of ballistic missiles had been launched from Iranian territory. The Israeli army reported that air defense systems were actively intercepting the attacks, but several missiles made direct impact, particularly in Tel Aviv. Loud explosions were reported in both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem by AFP journalists.

Emergency teams have been deployed to the affected areas. The Magen David Adom emergency service confirmed at least seven injuries.

An Israeli military official, speaking anonymously, warned: “Dozens of Iranian ballistic missiles are en route to Israel. The people of Israel have been instructed to remain in bomb shelters until further notice.”

Iranian state TV also stated that hundreds of missiles were also fired into Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories.

Israel’s massive early morning assault

Israel began its military operation early Friday, targeting Iran’s nuclear and military facilities, and killing its top military commanders and scientists. The attacks continued until Friday night, with cities such as Tehran, Natanz, Tabriz, and Isfahan hit.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed a harsh response, which started on Friday night. The Israeli assault involved approximately 200 aircraft striking Iran’s nuclear program and long-range missile capabilities.

The operation killed senior Iranian military officials and top nuclear scientists. In retaliation, Iran has vowed “severe punishment” and demanded an emergency United Nations Security Council meeting to hold Israel accountable for the attacks, raising fears of further escalation in the volatile region.
