Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said on Monday that the U.S. had no alternative but to accept the Iranian people’s rights during the ongoing negotiations between Tehran and Washington.

"Any other approach will be completely inconclusive; nothing but one failure after another," Ghalibaf added, warning that delays in reaching an agreement would increase costs for American taxpayers through prolonged military operations and rising energy prices.

Iran prepared for 'all options'

The remarks came after Ghalibaf earlier warned that Iran’s armed forces were ready to respond to any military action, following comments by U.S. President Donald Trump about the fragile state of the Middle East ceasefire.

"Our armed forces are ready to deliver a well-deserved response to any aggression," Ghalibaf wrote, adding that Iran was "prepared for all options."

Trump said on Monday that the ceasefire with Iran was on "massive life support" and sharply criticized Tehran’s latest response to a U.S. proposal delivered through Pakistani mediators.

Speaking at the Oval Office ahead of a National Security Council meeting, Trump described the Iranian response as "a piece of garbage" and dismissed the proposal as unacceptable.

U.S. media outlets also reported that Trump was weighing renewed strikes on Iran, with Pentagon officials reviewing military options, although any attack was not expected before his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping later this week.

Iran says nuclear talks must wait

Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei defended Tehran’s position during a weekly press briefing earlier Monday, describing Iran’s demands as “reasonable, responsible and generous.”

Baghaei accused Washington of repeatedly violating diplomatic commitments over the past two decades and insisted Iran was only demanding its “legitimate rights.”

According to Baghaei, Iran’s conditions included an end to fighting across regional fronts, the removal of the U.S. naval blockade, the release of frozen Iranian assets, the guarantee of safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, and broader regional security arrangements.

Baghaei confirmed that Iran’s proposal focused on immediate priorities rather than a comprehensive settlement, implying that nuclear talks would only move forward after the war had completely ended.
