The United Arab Emirates said its air defenses were dealing with missile and drone attacks originating from Iran, as the country’s Ministry of Defense urged the public to remain calm and follow safety instructions.
“The Ministry of Defense confirms that the sounds heard in scattered areas of the country are the result of the UAE’s air defense systems intercepting ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones,” the ministry said on X.
The ministry said UAE air defense systems were “actively engaging” with missile and UAV threats.
It said sounds heard across the country were linked to ongoing interception operations against ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones.
The ministry urged the public to remain calm and follow safety and security instructions issued by relevant authorities.
It also told residents not to approach, touch or photograph any debris or fragments that may have fallen as a result of successful air interceptions, and to allow the relevant authorities to assess the situation.
The ministry said any debris should be reported immediately by calling 999.
The latest attacks came after Iran launched strikes against the UAE the previous day, raising questions over the stability of the cease-fire.
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said earlier that Washington did not view the truce as being over, despite the Iranian strikes and U.S. action in the Strait of Hormuz.
The previous attack targeted a major oil facility in the UAE and injured three Indian nationals.
Iranian drones hit the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone, drawing widespread condemnation from several countries afterward.
