Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps said Wednesday that the country's ongoing conflict with the United States could be brought to a close if Washington halts its threats and agrees to a set of conditions, including guarantees that Iran's nuclear and missile programs will not be interfered with.
IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebi laid out the terms in a statement carried by the semi-official Fars news agency, framing them as the price of ending hostilities between the two countries.
According to Mohebi, any resolution would require the United States to completely halt the war and refrain from renewed threats against Iran. He said Washington must also secure the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon and end what Tehran describes as a blockade of Yemen.
The spokesman said Iran was also demanding the release of $24 billion in its assets that remain frozen, and he insisted that the United States refrain from any interference in the country's nuclear and missile capabilities.
"If the enemy wants an end to this situation, it must, while completely stopping the war, refrain from renewed threats," Mohebi said, according to Fars.
Disputes over Iranian assets frozen under sanctions, and over the scope of Iran's nuclear and missile programs, have been recurring flashpoints in Tehran's relations with Washington for years, predating the current conflict.
Successive rounds of US and international sanctions have restricted Iran's access to billions of dollars held in foreign banks, a issue Iranian officials have repeatedly raised in past negotiations, including during talks over the 2015 nuclear deal.
The IRGC, Iran's ideological military force, answers directly to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and operates alongside the country's conventional armed forces.
Mohebi's remarks tied an end to the war not only to Iran's own territory but to conflicts and disputes elsewhere in the region, invoking the presence of Israeli troops in Lebanon and the blockade affecting Yemen. Neither the Israeli government nor US officials had responded to the IRGC's conditions at the time of the statement.
