Iran's Vice President Esmael Saghab Esfahani warned Friday that any U.S. strike on Iran's oil infrastructure would trigger retaliatory attacks on Saudi Arabia's energy facilities.

Responding to Trump's repeated threats to strike Iran's energy infrastructure, he said that if any of Iran's oil wells are hit, "one of the oil facilities of the countries from whose soil we are attacked will be targeted." He was speaking at a nightly anti-U.S.-Israel protest in Tehran's Eslamshahr district.

'Eye for head'

Esfahani said Iran had designed a tiered retaliatory framework.

"Our targets are clear. We have designed a ladder in our preparations; the lower rungs are based on "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth," and the upper rungs are based on the principle of 'an eye for a head.' If any of our oil wells are hit, one of the oil facilities of the countries from whose soil we are attacked will be targeted. So do not be afraid of Trump's rhetoric," Esfahani stated.

"Necessary and appropriate response will be given," he added.

He said the Iranian negotiating team had "grabbed the enemy's collar at the negotiating table," adding that citizens should not worry about their energy supply as "necessary arrangements" had been made.

Trump has repeatedly threatened to strike Iran's oil facilities, power plants, and bridges if Iran refused to accept what he called a "very fair and reasonable deal."
