Iran’s foreign minister warned Saturday that Tehran would target facilities belonging to American companies in the region if Iranian energy infrastructure is attacked during the ongoing U.S.-Israel war against Iran.

Iran threatens response over energy facilities

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran would respond to any attacks on its energy facilities.

"Iran will respond to any attack on its energy facilities," state television quoted him as saying.

His remarks came after U.S. attacks on military infrastructure on Iran’s crude oil export hub of Kharg Island.

U.S.-linked company facilities could be targeted

Araghchi said Iranian forces would target facilities belonging to American companies in the region if Iranian sites were struck.

"If Iranian facilities are targeted, our forces will target American companies' facilities in the region, or companies in which the U.S. holds shares," he warned.

Araghchi also said Iran would act cautiously in its response.

He said Tehran would seek to ensure that densely populated areas are not targeted.
