A senior Iranian official said Tehran aims to expel U.S. forces from the region and will not retreat in the face of threats, responding to recent statements by U.S. President Donald Trump, according to remarks shared on social media.
Ali Akbar Ahmadian, the representative of Iran’s leader Mojtaba Khamenei on the Defense Council, said Iran’s actions would be guided by “rational and realistic calculations” rather than what he described as “Hollywood-style theatrics,” in a post shared on the U.S.-based social media platform X.
Ahmadian stated that Iran would not back down in response to threats or what he called “empty shows,” emphasizing that the region remains central to Tehran’s strategic calculations.
In his statement, Ahmadian said, “We will neither retreat under threats nor be swayed by clamor and empty shows; this region is our playing field, and responses are based on rational and realistic calculations, not Hollywood-style theatrics.”
He framed Iran’s position as part of a broader strategic approach, asserting that the country had already forced the U.S. out of Iran and was now focused on a second phase.
“The Islamic Revolution, in its first step, expelled America from Iran,” he said, adding that the “second step” would be to expel U.S. forces from the wider region.
Ahmadian’s remarks came in response to comments and threats directed at Iran by Trump, according to the statement.
He reiterated that Iran’s decisions would not be influenced by external pressure, underscoring that Tehran’s responses would be based on calculated assessments rather than rhetoric.
The statement reflects Iran’s continued opposition to the presence of U.S. forces in the region, as tensions persist amid the broader conflict involving U.S. and Israeli military actions against Iran.
