An Iranian drone struck a residential building in Kuwait's southern region early Thursday, March 12, injuring two people, the country's Defense Ministry stated.
Kuwait's Defense Ministry Spokesman Col. Saud Abdulaziz al-Otaibi announced the incident in a statement on X.
The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) struck the building, resulting in two injuries and material damage to the structure.
"The two injured persons are receiving necessary medical treatment," according to the ministry.
Kuwait's Fire Service Spokesman Muhammed el-Garib said residents of the targeted building were evacuated, and a fire that broke out in the structure was extinguished.
The attack comes amid heightened regional tensions following U.S. and Israeli military strikes on Iran. Israel and the United States launched military operations against Iran on Feb. 28 while negotiations were ongoing between the Iranian and U.S. administrations.
Iran responded with attacks on targets in several regional countries, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, where U.S. bases are located, as well as targeting Israel.
According to Iranian officials, the U.S.-Israeli strikes resulted in more than 1,348 deaths and over 17,000 injuries.
