The Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister, Mesrur Barzani, met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio during his visit to Washington, the KRG press office said in a written statement.
Barzani thanked the United States for its continued support for the KRG, while Secretary Rubio reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to a strong and stable KRG within a federal Iraq.
The leaders discussed the need to resume oil exports via the Iraq-Türkiye pipeline and reviewed the KRG’s ongoing efforts to diversify its economy through reform initiatives.
