Iran’s Ambassador to Ankara, Muhammed Hasan Habibullah Zadeh, said Israel is a threat to the entire region, speaking in a live broadcast on NTV.

Zadeh said that, as in June, the U.S. and Israel attacked while diplomatic efforts were underway and a solution was being sought at the negotiating table.

He said Israel has broader plans for the region and that by drawing the U.S. into the conflict, it is not targeting only Iran.

“They have decided to change the entire geopolitical face of the region. They decided to weaken Iran, and then it will be the turn of other countries,” Zadeh said.

The ambassador added that Iran has no problem with brotherly countries in the Gulf region and that it has only targeted U.S. bases.

War expands into third day

The remarks came as the U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran and wide-scale Iranian reprisals expanded Monday, with the United States pledging to send more troops to the region.

As the war entered its third day, Iran continued attacks on several Persian Gulf states.

Lebanon’s Hezbollah responded to the killing of Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei with rocket and drone attacks on Israel, prompting Israeli strikes in the suburbs of Beirut and other strongholds of the Iran-allied group.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said at the news conference that “we didn’t start this war but under President Trump we are finishing it.”

He said the campaign is “not a so-called regime change war,” dismissed criticism of another “endless war,” and did not set a timeline or rule out ground troops, saying U.S. ambitions are “not utopian” but realistic.
