Israel’s military chief Eyal Zamir said Wednesday that the army was prepared to resume a large-scale operation against Iran if fighting reignites, as U.S. President Donald Trump warned Tehran it could face heavier attacks if negotiations fail.
During a visit to southern Lebanon, Zamir stated that Israeli forces had additional targets ready inside Iran and remained on high alert despite ongoing diplomatic contacts between Washington and Tehran.
"In Iran, we have a further series of targets ready for attack," Zamir remarked, adding that Israel was ready to return to an “intense and broad campaign” aimed at deepening the damage already inflicted on Iran.
Zamir also addressed troops stationed near the Lebanese town of Khiam, telling them that "all IDF capabilities are at your disposal" and that there were no limits on the use of force in operations against Hezbollah.
According to the Israeli military chief, over 2,000 Hezbollah operatives have been killed in Lebanon since the start of the war involving Iran.
He added that Israel would continue taking opportunities to weaken the group further.
The comments came as Trump threatened renewed military action against Iran if Tehran rejects terms currently being discussed as part of a proposed agreement to end the conflict.
In a Truth Social post, Trump stated that Iran could face strikes "at a much higher level and intensity" if negotiations collapse.
He also indicated that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen fully to commercial shipping, including Iranian vessels, if a deal is finalized.
On the other hand, reports suggested that a 14-point U.S. proposal had reached Tehran, while several Iranian outlets close to the state claimed officials were unlikely to accept it because it included demands Iran sees as unacceptable, especially regarding its nuclear program.
