Israeli forces carried out a new incursion Friday into the countryside of Syria’s southern Daraa province, entering the Wadi al-Raqad area with nine military vehicles, Syrian media reported.
Syria’s Al-Ikhbariya television said the vehicles moved into Wadi al-Raqad but did not provide further details on the nature of the military activity.
Wadi al-Raqad is located in the Yarmouk Basin area of the Daraa countryside and has witnessed repeated Israeli incursions and military movements in recent months.
Southern Syria has seen repeated Israeli incursions since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government on Dec. 8, 2024.
At the time, Israel announced that the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement had collapsed and occupied the Syrian buffer zone and other areas.
Damascus has demanded that Israel withdraw to the positions it held before Dec. 8, 2024.
Syria has also reaffirmed its commitment to the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement.
