The Gaza Government Media Office reported Saturday that Israeli forces are enforcing the displacement of roughly 270,000 Palestinians from Gaza City toward southern areas under the threat of continued bombing, describing the measures as part of a policy of genocide.
At the same time, over 900,000 residents have refused to leave their homes.
Officials said that despite relentless bombardment, more than 22,000 Palestinians returned to their original neighborhoods by Saturday noon due to severe shortages of food, water, and other basic necessities in the south.
Areas such as al-Mawasi in Khan Younis and Rafah, which currently shelter nearly 1 million civilians and are designated by Israel as “humanitarian and safe zones,” have endured more than 110 airstrikes and repeated bombardments.
Government reports indicated that over 2,000 Palestinians have been killed in successive attacks on these areas.
The Gaza authorities highlighted that zones labeled as “shelter areas” by Israel cover only about 12% of the Gaza Strip, yet are intended to accommodate more than 1.7 million people.
Officials described this as part of a systematic plan to empty Gaza City and northern Gaza of their populations, alleging that the measures effectively create “concentration camps” under a forced displacement policy.
