The Israeli navy carried out attacks on Houthi targets in Yemen's Red Sea port of Hodeidah, the army said on Tuesday, in an ongoing campaign that usually involves airstrikes.
Houthi-run Al Masirah TV said Israel targeted the docks of Al Hodeidah port with two strikes. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
The Israeli army said in its statement that the port is used by the Houthis to transfer weapons.
The Israeli military said navy missile ships conducted the strikes, the first time its forces have been involved in attacks against the Houthis.
"Navy missile ships attacked targets of the Houthi terrorist regime in the port of Hodeidah in Yemen," the Israeli Army stated. "The Israeli army this morning attacked targets of the Houthi terrorist regime in the port of Hodeidah in Yemen using naval missile ships."
"The attack was carried out in response to the Houthi terrorist regime's aggression against the State of Israel, in which surface-to-surface missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles were launched towards the country's territory and its citizens," the Israeli military said.
The strikes come after the Israeli military on Monday urged the evacuation of the Houthi-controlled ports of Ras Isa, Hodeidah and Salif.
"The attack was carried out after numerous advance warnings by the Israeli army in order to minimize possible harm to the civilian population in the area," the Israeli military stated.
Late Monday, Israel issued online warnings to Yemenis to evacuate from Ras Isa, Hodeida and al-Salif ports over the Houthis' alleged use of seaports for attacks.
Hodeidah is also the main entry point for food and other humanitarian aid for millions of Yemenis since the war began when the Houthis seized Yemen's capital, Sanaa, in 2014.
The Israeli navy attacked docks in Yemen's rebel-held port city of Hodeidah on Tuesday, likely damaging facilities that are key to aid shipments to the hungry, war-wracked nation.
"The port that was attacked is used to transfer weapons and is another example of the Houthi terrorist regime's cynical use and exploitation of civilian infrastructure to promote terrorist activities," the Israeli military said.

Since the start of the war in Gaza in October 2023, the Iran-backed Houthis have fired at Israel and shipping in the Red Sea, disrupting global trade, in what they say are acts of solidarity with the Palestinians.
Most of the dozens of missiles and drones fired towards Israel have been intercepted or fallen short. Israel has carried out a series of retaliatory strikes.
