An Israeli security analysis has cautioned that expanding military cooperation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia could reshape regional power dynamics and create a new strategic challenge for Israel, as Cairo and Riyadh formalized broader defense coordination during a senior-level military meeting in Saudi Arabia.

The report, published by the Hebrew news website Natsiv Net, described the potential Cairo–Riyadh partnership as “the most dangerous front” for Israeli security.

The report noted that the growing coordination between the two militaries could “redraw the map of power in southern occupied Palestine.”

According to the analysis, the combined military strength of Egypt and Saudi Arabia—regarded as the second- and third-largest armies in the region—represents a new strategic reality that Israel “cannot afford to ignore.”

Cairo and Riyadh expand joint security coordination

The report urged Tel Aviv to develop “appropriate military and strategic responses” to confront what it called a “joint force forming on Israel’s southern flank.”

The warning follows an official visit to Saudi Arabia by Egyptian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Ahmed Khalifa, who co-chaired the final session of the 11th meeting of the Egyptian-Saudi Military Cooperation Committee with his Saudi counterpart, Lt. Gen. Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili.

Khalifa praised the level of coordination and cooperation within the committee and emphasized the depth of relations between the two countries and the role of military ties in supporting regional security and stability.

Al-Ruwaili affirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to broadening the scope of military cooperation with Egypt and to expanding collaboration in advanced defense technologies.

Meetings of the joint military committee resulted in an agreement to improve military cooperation between the armed forces of Egypt and Saudi Arabia in a variety of sectors.

The session ended with the signing of a protocol for the Egyptian-Saudi Military Cooperation Committee meeting in the presence of senior military commanders from both countries.

During his visit to Saudi Arabia, Khalifa received an official welcome that included a guard-of-honor review and the playing of both countries’ national anthems.

Security relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia form a cornerstone of strategic cooperation between the two countries.

Israeli fears amid military cooperation

Over the years, these ties have included joint exercises, military drills, and the exchange of expertise in planning and combat operations.

The analysis argued that the joint military experience aims, among other objectives, to challenge Israel’s military superiority in the region and claimed that Israel must mount military responses against the combined force of the two countries.

It noted that this alliance represents one of the strongest military fronts on Israel’s borders and “should not be underestimated.”
