Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense reported two fiber-optic guided explosive drones launched from Iraq struck northern land border posts. The army condemned the "sinful aggressive attack," noting material damage but no casualties.
The Ministry of Defense spokesperson Col. Saud Abdulaziz al-Atwan issued the following statement, "This morning, two northern land border posts of the State of Kuwait were targeted in a sinful aggressive attack by two booby-trapped drones, guided by fiber-optic wire, coming from the Republic of Iraq, resulting in material damage with no human casualties recorded, praise be to Allah."
"The Ministry of Defense confirms that the competent authorities immediately began taking the necessary measures to deal with the incident," the statement added.
There was no comment from Iraq, and no group claimed responsibility for the attack.
Iran-aligned factions are active in Iraq, with some groups announcing the launch of military operations targeting US bases in the region during the joint US-Israeli attacks against Iran on Feb. 28.
The operations killed more than 3,300 people in Iran before Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire on April 8 mediated by Pakistan.
The war has been on hold since April 8 under a ceasefire mediated by Pakistan.
Washington and Tehran held talks in Pakistan the previous weekend, with efforts underway to arrange a new round of negotiations.
US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the ceasefire would remain in place following a request from Pakistan until Iran presents what he described as a “unified proposal.”
