Majority of Israelis oppose Netanyahu’s re-election bid, poll shows

More than half of Israelis do not want Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to run in the next general elections, according to a new survey by Channel 12.

The poll revealed that 52% of respondents believe Netanyahu should not seek re-election, while 41% think he should run again. Another 7% said they were unsure about his candidacy.

Uncertainty within Likud leadership

When asked who should lead the ruling Likud Party instead of Netanyahu, 48% of respondents said they did not support any of the suggested names or were undecided.

Former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen received support from 10%, followed by Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer with 9%.

Bennett favored to lead opposition bloc

Regarding who should head the opposition bloc against Netanyahu, 44% of respondents favored former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

Yair Lapid, leader of the main opposition party Yesh Atid (“There is a Future”), was supported by 16% of participants as the preferred leader of the opposition.
