Israel's government accused Iran's Revolutionary Guards on Sunday of orchestrating a systematic campaign of attacks against Israeli and Jewish targets worldwide since October 2023.

In a joint statement, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office and Mossad, the country's foreign intelligence service, claimed that Iranian officials directed "major attack attempts" foiled in Australia, Greece and Germany over the past two years.

Intelligence agencies claim dozens of plots disrupted

According to the statement, Tehran has escalated efforts to target Israeli and Jewish interests globally following the events of Oct. 7, 2023, when Hamas militants attacked southern Israel, killing roughly 1,200 people and taking about 250 hostages.

Israeli intelligence alleged that dozens of attack plots have been thwarted through Mossad operations conducted with other intelligence agencies both inside Israel and abroad.

The statement identified a senior Revolutionary Guards commander, Sardar Amar, as leading what Israel described as a mechanism established to encourage attacks on Israeli and Jewish targets domestically and internationally. Israel claimed this apparatus, operating under the Revolutionary Guards umbrella, was directly responsible for the failed attack attempts in Greece, Australia and Germany.

Following the alleged plots, Australia declared Iran's ambassador persona non grata and expelled him from the country, according to the Israeli statement. Germany summoned Iran's ambassador to the Foreign Ministry for a reprimand, Israel said.
