Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with United States President Donald Trump on Dec. 29 to discuss the next steps in the Gaza ceasefire agreement, an Israeli government spokesperson said Monday, according to a Reuters report.

"The prime minister will meet with President Trump on Monday, December 29. They will discuss the future steps and phases and the international stabilization force of the ceasefire plan," spokesperson Shosh Bedrosian said during an online briefing.

The ceasefire agreement, brokered by Trump, took effect on Oct. 10. The 20-point framework outlines Israel’s phased withdrawal from Gaza, the release of hostages and prisoners, a reconstruction process, and the formation of a new governing body in Gaza, excluding Hamas.

A key element of the plan is the deployment of the International Stabilization Force (ISF), a multinational, non-combat unit tasked with securing humanitarian corridors and supporting reconstruction efforts.

Second phase of plan in focus

Meanwhile according to reports in the Israeli press, Netanyahu is planning an official visit to the United States from Dec. 28 to Jan. 4. Trump is expected to host the Israeli leader at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on Dec. 29.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office confirmed on Dec. 1 that Trump had invited Netanyahu to the White House. While the location of their meeting has not been officially confirmed, Israeli media continue to report that it will likely take place in Florida.

On Sunday, Netanyahu said he would meet with Trump to discuss the second phase of the U.S. ceasefire plan. Though the truce between Israel and Hamas came into effect in October, both sides have repeatedly accused each other of violating the agreement.

Major issues remain unresolved, including Hamas disarmament, the future governance of Gaza, and the composition and mandate of the proposed international force.

During a joint press conference Sunday with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Netanyahu said that “the second phase of the ceasefire in Gaza could begin soon,” adding that the first phase had largely been completed.

He said he would raise these issues in his meeting with Trump.

According to recent reports in the Israeli press, the Trump administration is aiming to formally announce the second phase of the ceasefire before the end of the year.
