In the first half of 2025, Turkish tourists dominated the foreign visitor scene in North Macedonia, with over 108,000 arrivals, placing Türkiye at the top of North Macedonia’s international tourism list.
According to the North Macedonia State Statistical Office, the country welcomed more than 395,000 foreign tourists between January and June.
The year started quietly with modest arrivals in January and February, but visitor numbers increased in March and surged in May and June, marking the start of a busy summer season.
Monthly figures highlight the steady rise of Turkish visitors: 8,510 in January, 6,485 in February, 9,380 in March, 21,124 in April, 28,338 in May, and a record 34,366 in June. This growth shows North Macedonia gaining popularity among Turkish travelers.
Following Turkish tourists, Germans and Serbians contributed the next largest groups, with roughly 50,000 and 29,000 arrivals, respectively.
Despite these numbers, Turkish visitors maintained a clear lead.
While international arrivals increased by nearly 20% compared to the same period last year, local tourism dropped slightly by 2.5%.
Experts point to cultural connections, geographic proximity, and convenient flights as factors attracting Turkish visitors.
