Drones struck Oman's commercial port of Duqm on Sunday, injuring one worker, the Oman News Agency reported, marking the first attack on the sultanate, which has mediated U.S.-Iran nuclear talks, since Tehran launched its retaliatory campaign across the Gulf region.

The strike shatters Oman's apparent immunity from Iranian attacks and raises questions about whether the hit was intentional or a spillover from the widening conflict.

Four people were injured in an attack on a Palau-flagged oil tanker north of Khasab Port in Oman, the country’s Maritime Security Center said Sunday.

In a statement, the center said SKYLIGHT tanker was targeted five nautical miles north of the port in the Musandam Governorate.

“All 20 crew members, including 15 Indian nationals and 5 Iranian nationals, were evacuated,” it added.

According to the statement, four crew members sustained injuries of varying severity and were transferred to receive medical attention.

Two drones strike Duqm Port, one worker injured

"A security source reported that the commercial port of Duqm was targeted by two drones. One drone struck a mobile workers' accommodation, injuring one foreign worker, while debris from the other landed near fuel tanks, causing no casualties or material damage," the Oman News Agency said on X.

Oman's Ministry of Defense issued a statement urging citizens to exercise "national responsibility" and avoid sharing photographs or videos of military and security installations or circulating rumors and unverified information on social media.

"Ensure that information is obtained from official sources. May Allah protect Oman," the ministry said.

US Embassy orders staff to shelter in place

The U.S. Embassy in Oman ordered staff to shelter in place on Sunday, citing unspecified "activity" outside the capital Muscat.

"Due to ongoing activity outside of Muscat, the U.S. Embassy in Oman has instructed staff to shelter-in-place. We recommend all Americans in Oman do the same until further notice," the embassy said on X.

It was unclear whether the activity was related to the Duqm drone strike or separate incidents.
