Pakistan has closed all border crossings with neighboring Iran indefinitely, provincial officials confirmed on Monday, amid escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran.

"Border facilities in all five districts—Chaghi, Washuk, Panjgur, Kech and Gwadar—have been suspended," said Qadir Bakhsh Pirkani, a senior official in Balochistan province, which borders Iran.

The closure comes as Israel and Iran exchange heavy strikes and issue warnings of further retaliation, prompting concerns of a broader regional conflict.

Pakistan has not officially linked the border closure to the ongoing tensions, but has previously cited security concerns when sealing crossings.

Officials have not provided a timeline for when the border will reopen.
