The PKK/YPG terrorist group, operating under the name SDF, attacked Syrian army positions around Tishrin Dam in eastern Aleppo, killing one soldier and violating a ceasefire more than 10 times in 48 hours, Syria's Defense Ministry said.
The Defense Ministry's Media and Communications Department said in a statement to Syria's official news agency SANA, announced on Thursday, that the PKK/YPG attacked Syrian army positions around Tishrin Dam.
One soldier was killed and two soldiers were wounded in the attacks, according to the statement. The terrorist organization has targeted many Syrian army positions in eastern Aleppo and violated the ceasefire more than 10 times in the last 48 hours, the statement said.
PKK/YPG continues fortification on all front lines, and provocative phone calls targeting army and security forces have been detected in Aleppo city, the ministry said.
SDF deployed mortars in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in northern Aleppo, Syria's official television channel Al-Ikhbariya reported.
The terrorist organization began positioning itself with mortars and heavy weapons in both neighborhoods it holds under occupation, according to the report.
Intense clashes occurred on Oct. 6 between the PKK/YPG, using the name SDF, and the Damascus government forces in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh areas.
Three people were killed, including two civilians.
Following those clashes, Syria's Defense Ministry announced Oct. 7 that it had reached an agreement on a comprehensive ceasefire with SDF in the north and northeast of the country.
