Ponteareas continues to battle a forest fire that remains active on Wednesday.
According to the Ministry of Rural Affairs, the fire began after 17:30 hours on Tuesday in the parish of Nogueira.
Two technicians, nine agents, eight brigades, eight fire engines, three bulldozers, two technical support units, eight helicopters, and four aircraft had been deployed to fight the fire.
Alongside the Firefighters of Ponteareas and environmental agents, MITECO (Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge) also mobilized two brigades -formed by 18 firefighters- and four helicopters.
The City Council has stated that citizens should follow the instructions of the emergency services, avoid approaching the affected area, and keep the access routes free to help firefighters do their work.
Elsewhere in Spain, in Aragon, firefighters also battled the blazes that spread across 17,500 hectares (43,200 acres) last week.
A Spanish soldier died on Sunday while helping to extinguish the fire when his truck plunged into a ravine, according to authorities.
The regional government declared what it called the largest firefighting deployment in Aragon's history to bring the blaze under control.
Europe has been swept by weeks of devastating wildfires fuelled by dry conditions and a historically hot summer.
Scientists say climate change, driven by humanity's burning of fossil fuels, is increasing the length, frequency and intensity of such extreme weather.
