King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh said Saturday that domestic flights and international services run by national airlines will operate from designated terminals starting Sunday.
In a notice to passengers, the airport said Terminal 1 will handle domestic flights, while Terminal 2 will serve international flights operated by national carriers. The arrangement takes effect Oct. 25.
The airport advised travelers with confirmed bookings to contact their airlines to verify their flight and reservation status before heading to the airport. The notice did not give a reason for the allocation, and it did not say how long the arrangement would remain in place.
The announcement comes as the airport is among several Saudi airports targeted in recent attacks claimed by Yemen’s Houthi group. Some of those attacks have caused civilian casualties and disrupted air travel. The Houthis, an armed group from Yemen, control large areas of the country’s north, including the capital, Sanaa.
King Khalid International Airport opened in November 1983 and has five main passenger terminals. It is one of the busiest airports in the Middle East and serves as a hub for Riyadh Air.
