The Kremlin said Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin has received an invitation to join U.S. President Donald Trump’s newly announced “Board of Peace,” an international body intended to oversee postwar governance and reconstruction in Gaza.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the invitation during a news conference in Moscow, saying it was delivered through diplomatic channels and is currently being examined.
“Yes, indeed, President Putin also received an invitation to join this very Council of Peace,” Peskov said. He added that Moscow hopes to hold contacts with the American side to “clarify all the nuances” of the proposal.
Peskov said Russia is studying the details of the offer and has not yet made a decision regarding participation.
The White House announced the formation of the Board of Peace on Friday, describing it as a key mechanism to help implement the 20 points of Trump’s plan to permanently end Israel’s war on Gaza and rebuild the territory.
According to the statement, the board is intended to provide strategic oversight, mobilize international resources and ensure accountability as Gaza moves from conflict toward peace and development.
As part of the same initiative, the U.S. established the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) to carry out phase two of Trump’s Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict.
A founding Executive Board and a Gaza Executive Board were also created to support the NCAG.
Trump has invited several world leaders to take part in the Board of Peace, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to U.S. officials.
Russian officials said discussions with Washington are expected to continue as Moscow seeks further clarification on the scope and responsibilities of the proposed body.
