Saudi Arabia has accused the United Arab Emirates of taking “highly dangerous” actions in eastern Yemen, warning that the moves threaten Saudi national security and regional stability, according to a statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the statement dated Dec. 30, 2025, Riyadh said the UAE pressured forces affiliated with Yemen’s Southern Transitional Council (STC) to carry out military operations in the governorates of Hadramout and Al-Maharah, which border Saudi Arabia.
The kingdom said these actions pose a direct threat to its national security as well as to Yemen’s security and stability.
Saudi Arabia said the steps taken by the UAE contradict the principles on which the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen was established and do not serve the coalition’s stated goal of achieving security and stability in Yemen.
Riyadh called on the UAE to respond positively to Yemen’s request for the withdrawal of all Emirati forces from Yemeni territory within 24 hours.
The statement also urged the UAE to halt all military and financial support to any Yemeni faction.
“The Kingdom stresses the importance that the brotherly United Arab Emirates accept the Republic of Yemen’s request for all its forces to leave the Republic of Yemen within twenty-four hours,” the ministry said.
Saudi Arabia emphasized that any threat to its national security constitutes a “red line,” warning that the kingdom “will not hesitate to take all necessary steps and measures to confront and neutralize any such threat.”
The Saudi Foreign Ministry also referred to the movement of ships carrying weapons and armored vehicles from the port of Al-Fujairah to the port of Al-Mukalla without obtaining official approval from the Coalition Joint Forces Command.
The statement reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to Yemen’s security, stability, sovereignty and unity, as well as its full support for Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government.
Riyadh acknowledged that the southern issue has historical and social dimensions but stressed that the only way to resolve it is through dialogue within a comprehensive political solution involving all Yemeni parties, including the Southern Transitional Council.
Saudi Arabia expressed hope that wisdom, principles of brotherhood, good neighborliness, and Gulf Cooperation Council solidarity would prevail, adding that it expects the UAE to take the necessary steps to preserve bilateral relations and continue joint efforts aimed at regional stability and prosperity.
