Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman held separate telephone calls on Thursday with his American and French counterparts, discussing defense cooperation and efforts to bolster stability across the region, according to a statement from the Saudi Defense Ministry.
In a call with US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Khalid bin Salman and his counterpart reviewed the strategic defense partnership between Saudi Arabia and the United States, the ministry said.
The two officials also discussed coordinating efforts to strengthen security and stability in the region, along with other regional and international issues of mutual concern, though the ministry's statement did not specify further details of the discussion.
The Saudi-US defense relationship has long served as a central pillar of the broader strategic partnership between the two countries, encompassing arms sales, military training and joint security coordination across the Middle East.
Separately, Khalid bin Salman spoke by phone with French Armed Forces Minister Catherine Vautrin about prospects for expanding defense cooperation between Saudi Arabia and France, the ministry said.
The two ministers also addressed challenges facing the region and efforts to confront them in a manner that preserves international peace and security, in addition to other matters of shared interest, according to the statement.
The Defense Ministry's statement did not elaborate on specific agreements, timelines or outcomes stemming from either call.
Both conversations were described in general terms as touching on cooperation and regional stability, with no further specifics disclosed publicly.
