Syria's Ministry of Defense declared on Wednesday that all SDF military positions in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods of Aleppo were "legitimate military targets" for the Syrian Arab Army following the group's major escalation in the city and massacres against civilians.

The Operations Department of the Syrian Arab Army stated, "All SDF military positions inside the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods are legitimate military targets for the Syrian Arab Army," following the terrorist organization's major escalation toward Aleppo city neighborhoods and commission of multiple massacres against civilians.

The department appealed to civilians in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in Aleppo to immediately vacate SDF positions. "We appeal to our civilian people in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in the city of Aleppo to immediately distance themselves from SDF organization positions," the statement said.

The Operations Department announced two safe humanitarian corridors: the "al-Awaridh Crossing" and "Flowers Street Crossing," known to local residents, open until 3 p.m.

Civilians continue to evacuate from the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods to safe areas due to escalation in the region.

Renewed SDF shelling of residential areas

The PKK/YPG terrorist group, operating under the name SDF, renewed shelling of residential neighborhoods in Aleppo in northern Syria on Wednesday morning, the second day of renewed attacks, after at least five people were killed in attacks the previous day, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

SANA reported that SDF terrorists shelled the al-Suryan neighborhood in northern Aleppo. Syrian army forces responded to the sources of fire in the vicinity of the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, from where the SDF fired shells toward the al-Suryan neighborhood.

The agency said Syrian army forces also engaged in clashes with the terrorist group along the Castello and al-Sheihan axes in the province.

No information was yet available about casualties from the Wednesday morning exchanges.

At least five people were killed and 16 others injured in a series of attacks by SDF terrorists in Aleppo on Tuesday. The attacks targeted both civilian residential areas and Syrian army positions.

March 10 integration agreement between Syria-SDF

On March 10, the Syrian presidency announced the signing of an agreement for the SDF's integration into state institutions, reaffirming the country's territorial unity and rejecting any attempts at division.

However, Syrian authorities state that in the months since, the SDF has not shown any efforts to meet the terms of the agreement. The terrorist organization has instead escalated military operations against government-controlled neighborhoods and civilian areas.

Clashes between the Syrian army and the PKK/YPG terrorist group, operating under the SDF name, continue into their second day in Aleppo following the group's attacks on civilian settlements and the Syrian military.

The terrorist group targeted civilian settlements in the al-Suryan neighborhood with artillery fire on Wednesday morning, while periodic heavy weapons fire echoed from the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh areas.
