Supporters of the YPG/SDF terrorist group staged violent protests on Tuesday across several European countries, attacking police with stones and fireworks while damaging businesses and public property as the Syrian Army continued its advance in northeastern Syria.
Acting on calls made by the terror group across Europe, protesters confronted police in Switzerland, Germany, the U.K. and France.
In Berlin, a group attacked Türkiye's Embassy with paint and smoke bombs.
In Dortmund, approximately 4,000 YPG/SDF supporters gathered in the city center, carrying SDF and PKK flags.
Protesters attacked a Syrian-owned restaurant near the central train station, smashing tables and chairs, breaking windows and looting the cash register.
Seven police officers were injured by explosive fireworks during the demonstration. A police spokesperson said the officers likely suffered hearing trauma from the blasts. Protesters also attacked police with fireworks and iron rods during the clashes.
In Stuttgart, around 2,000 people gathered at Borsenplatz despite only 20 participants being registered in advance. Protesters attacked vehicles and police officers with pyrotechnics, with some wearing masks and displaying aggressive behavior.
Stuttgart Police Spokesperson Timo Brenner condemned the violence, saying, "Under the guise of a demonstration, attacking police forces and outsiders is not to be reconciled with the democratic understanding of freedom of assembly."
"Unfortunately, our forces were today exposed to massive acts of violence and were forced to intervene accordingly robustly. It was only fortunate that no emergency personnel were injured," Brenner said.
Police identified 75 protesters on charges including breach of public order, assault on police officers, explosives violations and breach of assembly laws.
Demonstrations also turned violent in Trier, where one person threw a firework at the protest procession of approximately 400 people. In Hannover, the demonstration was ended early after protesters displayed "uncooperative behavior" toward police.
Thousands also protested in Frankfurt, Bremen and other German cities.
Berlin police reported that shortly after midnight, a group of around 40 people threw paint at the iron fences of Türkiye's Embassy on Tiergarten Street.
The attackers wrote a slogan on the sidewalk and threw several smoke bombs before fleeing into Tiergarten Park. Police detained two individuals aged 19 and 20 in connection with the incident.
The investigation is being conducted by state security units. The attack is suspected to have been carried out by YPG/SDF supporters.
In Switzerland, police intervened against an unauthorized march by YPG/SDF supporters in Zurich. Demonstrators carrying symbols of the terror group threw stones and other objects at police, who used water cannons to disperse the crowd.
Some protesters wore masks and public property was damaged. Similar demonstrations were held in Bern, Lausanne and Geneva.
In London, YPG/SDF supporters gathered at the entrance of Downing Street before marching to Parliament, where they staged a sit-in at an intersection.
After police warnings, protesters were redirected back to Downing Street.
Police prevented an attempted march toward Trafalgar Square, and following a brief scuffle, the demonstration ended.
