The Aleppo Governorate announced that two humanitarian corridors have been reopened to allow civilians to evacuate from the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods, which are under the occupation of the PKK/YPG terrorist organization operating under the name SDF.
The corridors were reopened in coordination with the Syrian Army after the terrorist organization prevented civilians from leaving.
Civilians wishing to leave the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods can use the corridors on Al-Awarid and Zuhur Street, which are known to local residents, to pass to safe areas in Aleppo, the statement said.
Evacuation operations will last three hours, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The PKK/YPG terrorist organization operating under the name SDF shelled residential neighborhoods in Aleppo in northern Syria for the third consecutive day on Thursday, Syrian media reported.
Alikhbariyah TV said SDF forces targeted the Lairamoun area and the Shihan traffic circle in Aleppo using machine-gun fire.
At least six people have been killed and 39 others injured since the PKK/YPG attacks began in Aleppo city center on Jan. 6. One soldier and five civilians were among the dead.
The Syrian Army had deployed dozens of tanks and armored personnel carriers along with reinforcement troops to the contact lines with the PKK/YPG.
Due to the clashes, operations in official institutions in the city center were halted, and education was suspended in schools and universities. Flights at Aleppo International Airport were also suspended.
On the same day the clashes began, the PKK/YPG terrorist organization attacked a school and hospital in the Suryan neighborhood in the evening.
