U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday hinted at a possible breakthrough in the Middle East crisis, saying “all are on board for something special” on the eve of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the White House.

“All are on board for something special, first time ever,” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social. “We will get it done.”

His remarks followed a multilateral meeting on Tuesday in New York with leaders from Türkiye, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, held on the sidelines of the 80th U.N. General Assembly.

The discussions centered on the Gaza conflict and peace efforts.

Trump’s 21-point proposal

Trump presented a 21-point plan designed to end the Gaza war, secure hostage releases, and rehabilitate the territory under governance that excludes Hamas.

The U.S. president also said he would not allow Israel to annex the West Bank.

He is scheduled to meet separately with Netanyahu on Monday to discuss the proposals in more detail.

Since October 2023, the Israeli army has killed over 66,000 Palestinians in Gaza, most of them women and children, according to local health authorities.

The bombardment has devastated the enclave, rendering it uninhabitable and leading to widespread starvation and disease.
