U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Israel will not launch another strike against Qatar, following the recent air attack carried out by Israel in Doha.
Speaking to reporters at the Oval Office, Trump described Qatar as “a very good ally, which many people do not know,” and emphasized that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu assured him there would be no repeat of the strike.
Trump added that Israel would instead take other measures targeting Hamas, noting, “Netanyahu will not hit Qatar again. Maybe they will go after Hamas instead.”
According to a report by US-based Axios, citing unnamed Israeli officials, Washington was informed about the strike earlier than publicly admitted.
The officials claimed Netanyahu called Trump at 8:00 a.m. U.S. time, while the attack on Doha took place at 8:51 a.m. Trump reportedly did not object to the plan.
Although Trump had denied having prior knowledge—answering “No” when asked by reporters—U.S. officials later acknowledged they saw the missiles “in the air” and immediately requested clarification from Israel.
Reports also suggested that US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff attempted to warn Qatari authorities, but it was too late.

On Sept. 9, Israeli warplanes targeted a building in Doha where Hamas negotiators were based.
The strike killed six people, including the son of Hamas Political Bureau member Khalil al-Hayya, four other Hamas members, and one Qatari police officer.
Although Hamas’ top leadership survived, the attack raised tensions in the Gulf.
On Sept. 10, Netanyahu escalated the rhetoric, warning Qatar: “Either you expel them or hand them over to justice. If you do not, we will.”
